Lindian Resources Ltd (ASX:LIN, OTC:LINIF) Ltd is accelerating development at its flagship Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi, with construction activities now well underway and several critical contracts nearing award. In parallel, the company has made strategic personnel appointments to reinforce its on-ground execution capability.

The construction of haul roads for Pit 1 and Pit 2 has started, alongside significant progress on essential infrastructure including solar power and security facilities. 

Lindian is on track to award contracts for mining, power infrastructure and the design and construction of the plant within weeks.

Site infrastructure progresses ahead of schedule

Lindian has fully cleared the process plant area, while the main access road to site is already operational. 

These developments are enhancing logistics and safety and enabling seamless movement of personnel and equipment.

Renewable energy and security installations underway

The company has also started construction of its solar farm, which will provide sustainable, on-site energy to reduce reliance on diesel power. 

Foundations have been laid and equipment installation is progressing. 

At the same time, Lindian has initiated works on a security compound, including fencing and access infrastructure. Both the solar and security facilities are scheduled for completion within four weeks.

Key appointments bolster project delivery

To support the rapid project timeline, Lindian has appointed an experienced leadership team to site. 

Reporting to Construction Manager Daniel Britz, the new hires include a Senior Process Engineer, Construction Superintendent, Project Planner, QA/QC Superintendent and HSE Manager. 

Additionally, Hannah Murphy has joined as Corporate Development and Investor Relations Manager, based in Perth.

Pathway to plant construction

With site development gaining momentum and leadership capacity strengthened, Lindian is focused on the disciplined and timely delivery of its Kangankunde project. 

Plant construction is expected to start later this year and the progress made today follows advances in financing.

Lindian is currently reviewing several financing proposals, including a non-binding US$30 million term loan from Ecobank Malawi and an indicative senior secured bond offer from a European investment bank.

Chief financial officer Teck Lim said the range of proposals received reflects the financial strength of the Kangankunde project, even amid subdued rare earth prices. He emphasised the company's focus on securing a sustainable and value-accretive funding outcome that will support long-term success and maximise shareholder returns.
